Sustainability

Being as eco-friendly as possible is important to us, which is why we changed our packaging to be as sustainable as possible.

We originally sent out all orders in an envelope, lined with protective plastic bubble wrap. However, whilst this protected the orders, it was unsustainable as not only could the envelopes not be recycled, there was also no incentive to keep them.

Determined to change this, we switched the majority of our packaging to brown cardboard boxes with biodegradable packaging chips (they're made of starch so they desolve in water!). Not only is this a more eco-friendly option but it also provides you with a safe place to store your tapes and stickers once they arrive.

With the exception of our "Silver Star Glitter" washi tape (which has a white, plastic core), all of the washi tapes have a thick, cardboard core to help keep your tapes in shape. All of our other products come in cardboard boxes and packaging (stickers and pens) or loose/in a small material bag (paperclips).

The main bit of plastic used in our packaging is to keep the washi tape safe from dust, damage, and water (within reason). The sides of washi tape are dust magnets and so if they were to be left uncovered, the tapes would likely not arrive in pristine condition (just imagine all the fibres they'd pick up from the cardboard box and packing chips!).

We're always on the lookout for alternative packaging methods, but for now this is the best way to balance sustainability with keeping your order in the best condition possible as it makes its way to you.
